Last year we celebrated the building of the 200 th screw compressor set in our Cape Town works. We have now passed our 250 th and with the introduction of three revised models we see a great future ahead. The new models are the GSV II 210, GSW II 240 and the GSY II 288 compressor sets. These have modified rotor profiles, which provide up to six percent more capacity at better coefficients of performance at the same price as the previous models.
We have also seen a great increase in the number of packaged refrigeration systems we are building. These are all chillers for water or glycol for use in the beverage, dairy and confectionary industries. The photograph below shows a 1000 kW chiller nearing completion.
Due to the increasing use of carbon dioxide as a refrigerant Grasso Products in the Netherlands introduced into Europe last year a new range of compressors suitable for pressures of up to 52 Bar. These will be available in South Africa in October after the World launch at the IKK Exhibition in Nuremberg .
This range of reciprocating compressors compliments the 52 Bar series of Grasso screw compressors In South Africa , due to customer demand, Grasso introduced a stainless steel casing as an option for its industrial air coolers. This was first seen at the recent Refrigeration in Africa Show at the Cape Town International conference Centre as the following photograph indicates.
